To be selfish you must be selfless

Have you ever considered that to be selfish you must be selfless? People who seek to aggrandise the self solely through profiting the ‘I’ usually end up alone, miserable, and consumed by greed. I do not see that as selfish but foolish. We’re in such a mess because we‘ve entirely overlooked that. If you seek to benefit yourself, you must care for your environment and those within it, for we share a symbiotic relationship, and part of the self resides in the external. Oddly, that implies to be selfish, truly, is to focus on being selfless.
